Les Forges, for golfers and gourmets
The heart of Domaines Les Forges is formed without a doubt by the Golf Club Chateau des Forges. Amidst the 100 hectares of woods and meadows you have the use of the 27 holes which are suitable for starting golf players, but in part due to rugged groves and lakes they are also a challenge for single handicap players. This beautifully laid golf course, thanks to its sophisticated drainage, can be used all year round. For the less experienced golfer 9 of the 27 holes are always reserved, so that they, too, can do their round in their own time. The club has an enthusiastic golf professional (PGA), who speaks both French and English. Children’s lessons are free on Saturdays between 14:00 and 15:00 hours (please book at reception). You can also obtain your golf proficiency certificate (GVB) here on this course. At the clubhouse with its international feel you will find restaurant La Bergerie, with its excellent menu for both lunch and dinner.
In addition to four other courses (www.francegolf.fr), the immediate surroundings also offer plenty of alternative recreational possibilities such as riding, walking, tennis, fishing and cycling. The Forêt La Boulinière, for example, is connected to various walking and (all-terrain) cycling routes totalling 50 km. Nearby Vasles is some 3 km away, so you can easily walk or cycle to the village for your café et croissant. Vasles is locally also known as ‘Mouton Village’ or sheep village. The open-air sheep museum is certainly worth a visit.
